Autumn 2019 newsletter

Welcome to the Autumn 2019 edition of our newsletter.

What we have been up to

Over the summer holidays we have enjoyed many trips out to local parks, library sessions, healthy walks and going on bus trips to local museums. We love exploring the outdoors together and going on mini beast hunts. Booking is now available for our October holiday club, please ask Irene or Leanne for details


This term we are welcoming lots of new children into our setting, the children are settling in well. Thank you to all our families for your continued support, we pride ourselves on our parent partnerships. If you would like your child to make a family photo book, please supply us with your photos.

New staff members

Over the last couple of month we have welcomed Clare, Bilkis and Chloe to our team as Childcare Assistants. We also welcomed Rachel as our Deputy Manager. Who are already making a positive impact on our wonderful staff team!

Well Done Olivia

Congratulations to Olivia on her promotion to Room Leader, Olivia has worked at Little Cygnets for 2 years and has made a big impact in our setting.

Sponsored Walk

Thank you to everyone that supported us on our recent sponsored event, Mickey and Minnie enjoyed joining in with all the fun! The children especially enjoyed building sand castles and splashing in the water on the beach afterwards. With the money we raised we used it to enhance our story corners.

In June Molly won our sickness incentive, we value our lovely staff and the input they have in our nursery.

Falklands Service

At Little Cygnets we enjoy being part of our local community, we take part in services, organised events and love being out and about in our community.

Happy Birthday Little Cygnets

This month we are celebrating our 4th Birthday..... Wow how the time has flown!

Habitats and Growing

The children enjoyed planting in our sensory garden, learning all about things that grow and the life cycle of caterpillars to butterflies


Join us in celebrating Halloween from 28th October - 1st November 2019, come along to nursery dressed up and enjoy the fun of our themed week. We will be having spooky stories and gloopy messy fun.


Over the next few weeks we will be celebrating lots of different festivals, if your family celebrates any particular festival please let us know so that we can join in the fun!

Meet N Greet

Come along and meet with your child's keyworker on Saturday 16th November 2019 from 9am. This is an ideal opportunity to share ideas on how best to support your child in nursery and at home. And find out what we have been upto in nursery! To book your appointment please ask a member of our team. Many Thanks

Messy play

In nursery we enjoy exploring in messy play, we wear aprons but sometimes we do get a bit messy! Please don't wear your 'best' outfits to nursery and remember to label your child's belongings. We appreciate your continued support.

Christmas Sing Song

Come along and join us at Little Cygnets for our annual Christmas Sing Songs on Tuesday 17th December 2019 at 2pm. Wrap up warm as we will be in the garden (weather permitting). All welcome.

Christmas Party

Come along to our Christmas party on Saturday 14th December 2019 9.30am-11am at New AdventureLand soft play (Benton Road). Purchase your ticket from Little Cygnets £2.50 per child. Siblings are welcome to join in the fun (normal entry price will apply on the day). All children must be supervised by a responsible adult.

A few reminders

  • Please let us know if your contact details change.

  • If your child has been given medication at home, please inform your child's key person.

  • When collecting or dropping children off, could we please remind parents to kindly wait in the entrance. This minimises disruption in the main room.

  • Please refrain from using your mobile phone whilst in our setting.

  • Please could you refrain from sending nuts in to nursery. As one of our children has a nut allergy. Thank You.

  • We are closed all bank holidays.
