Little Cygnets has developed an exciting and fun packed programme to support each child to take part in activities throughout the day. Observations are carried out on a regular basis on each individual child to identify development areas and next steps. Activities are flexible, allowing each child to make decisions on which activities to do and for how long. Children are encouraged to lead in their play and explore the activities available to them.
We support children in their individual needs and offer encouragement and praise when achieving or completing a task or activity.
Within our homely setting we aim to provide a safe and caring environment where children are stimulated through play.
We will strive to provide all children with fun, stimulating activities. Some of the activities we get up to are:
Small world
Sensory messy
Construction blocks
Activity puzzle
Outdoor area
Role play
Books and rest
Creative play
We work towards the Early Years Foundations Stage Framework. This framework guides children from birth to the end of their first year in reception, ensuring a smooth educational transition between us and your child's future (or existing) school.
The framework is made up of four themed principles:
Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or other key people.
The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.
To support your child to reach their full potential within the educational parameters set by Ofsted and the national curriculum, we commit to seven key areas of learning:
Personal, social and emotional development.
Communication and language
Physical
Understanding the World.
Expressive art and design.
Literacy.
Mathematics.
